If I Wasn't Home Tonight — the free starter checklist
One page. Ten questions. About 20 minutes with your spouse.
If you can't answer these yet, you're not behind — you're normal. Most families can't. This is step zero of ShepherdReady, free, because every family should have at least this much written down.
The 10 questions
- If you needed money tonight, which account would you use first — and how do you get into it?
- Which bills are on autopay, and which card or account does each one charge?
- What does not autopay — the bills that would quietly go late?
- Where is the will? Who is the attorney who wrote it?
- Life insurance: which company, which policy, who is the beneficiary?
- Who do you call at work — and is there an airline/union number your spouse should call first?
- Where do the passwords live? (The password manager — never this page.)
- Phone, email, and computer: how does your spouse get in, in an emergency?
- House basics: water shut-off, breaker box, alarm code location, spare keys.
- Kids: doctor, school contacts, who is authorized to pick them up, who would take them tonight?
